This product is certified according to DIN 13432 and is therefore considered "biodegradable". According to DIN 13432, more than 90% of the starting material for the product breaks down into water, carbon dioxide and biomass after a specified time under defined temperature, oxygen and humidity conditions in the presence of microorganisms or fungi. A composting time of 10 weeks is taken as a basis for testing the biodegradability*.

Products with "OK Compost" logos for industry and household are certified as compostable by an independent third party organization. This means that the products meet the requirements of EN 13432 (2000), NF T51-800 (2015), ASTM D6868 (2017) and Meet CAN/BNQ 0017-088 (2010) Heavy metals and fluorine levels are well below the maximum levels required by the following standards Composting the product results in a compost safe for growing plants When tested according to EN 13432 no ecotoxicity was found.*

This product has been awarded the "NordicSwan Ecolabel" certificate. The Nordic Ecolabel corresponds to Type I according to DIN EN ISO 14024: 2018-06: Environmental labels and declarations - Environmental labeling type I - Principles and procedures. The criteria are reviewed every three to five years and revised if necessary. The impact of a product on the environment is assessed over its entire life cycle, from raw materials to recycling. The evaluation criteria include, among other factors, low CO2 emissions. Assessment criteria: strict environmental requirements in all relevant phases of a product life cycle, strict requirements and limits for chemicals used in products, the products must consist of at least 90 percent renewable raw materials, they must be recyclable or compostable, testing of energy consumption and emissions in the production*
